Breakpoints #7
This have been some crazy but fun weeks. I sent my CV to many companies for a Golang developer position but all failed miserably :) Just to test the water, but doing this makes me realize I should NEVER take my current job for granted.
Some readings of these weeks:
Thorsten Ball on How to build an agent. I love this a lot, hacking on this is of so much fun. It’s just amazing to see that working on a coding assistant is not out of reach at all. I have been hacking my own coding agent for the past few weeks and if you are reading this + know how to program/want to program in Go, please don’t hesitate to collaborate—I would love some company here.
Sean Goedecke on programmer archetypes. I don’t know really. At the start of the career I say I would be kind of a Grifter-Grinder type, but now (not all the time) I’m more a Coaster-Grifter. I think these are more like phases really: Sometimes we just have to grind and grift, but othertimes coasting a bit does not hurt much.
I have been reading a lot of freebies from Tommy Dixon and the time spent reading was totally worth it. Some of his writing feel like great reassurance: Yes work sucks sometimes but we can still find joy in it. Yes reading is lovely and rewarding but all read and no play makes (someone?) a dull boy. And my most favorite of all is “Mom is right it’s the damn phone” kind of post here.
Maisa on "you’re a bitch, and that’s why we lack community". Ouch. Definitely not pulling any punches here. But besides the message, the writing is lovely: All paragraphs begin with “You’re the one who…”, and all of them end with “…You’re a bitch, and that’s why we lack community”. Like spitting out bars after bars of wake-up calls.
I did not expect to come across a story about Mr Internet, but I am glad I did.
Every line is a potential bug. Great. Before this I was anxious and always have to double-check everything I wrote, now it is time for more anxiety and triple-checkings. But seriously, it’s really good.
