Breakpoints #3
This week has become hectic! I barely got any spare time to do my personal projects let alone writing anything. So yeah, here is another Breakpoints showing what-I-have-reads and what-to-reads next. Please accept my excuse (even though I wonder who would ever read this at all lol)
This podcast on the design of Swift has been a joy to listen. It features Doug Gregor—one of the founders of Swift. I will consider adding reference counting instead of a garbage collector for my toy language, it sounds cool enough.
To soothe my AI FOMO: Artificial Intelligence: A Guide for Thinking Humans. Do you think our machines can ever reach, and argue for, their own humaness?
One of my programming practices is to write things from scratch if it is possible, and while I was trying write a rate limiter for my pet projects, I came across Go by examples. I love it, bits of code here and there and each line is meticulously explained.
Coding Horror’s blogs are so good. Yes, you should read them even if you are not a programmer. Take this one for example—you don’t have to be American to understand it.
